Test DOP (Dispersed Oil Particulate)

Test DOP (Dispersed Oil Particulate)

DOP PAO TEST of air filtration equipment

What is the DOP test?

Air-conseil environnement offers certification services for air filtration machines in accordance with current standards. Our technicians are certified and follow a rigorous program to provide accurate results.

DOP (Dispersed Oil Particulate) testing is the process by which the integrity of your HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) or ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air) filter is tested by introducing particles using DOP or PAO solutions under their operating conditions.

Certification procedure

Certification involves the use of an aerosol photometer, which measures the concentration of particles at the inlet and outlet of the HEPA filter, thus stabilizing the percentage of particles filtered.
The HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter must ensure a very high level of filtration, filtering particles to 99.97%.

The DOP test is the second test performed on the HEPA filter, the first being carried out by the filter manufacturer (i.e. on the filter itself). The DOP Test guarantees absolute 100% filtration and ensures that the filter has not been damaged during transport, handling or assembly.
If a test fails, our technicians search for, examine and locate cracks, repair those up to 1.5” wide, and then re-evaluate the machines.

When there are significant cracks and the test fails, our technicians usually ask for HEPA filters to be replaced, and once this has been done, they re-evaluate the machines.

Why is the DOP Test important?

On construction sites and in the presence of regulated materials such as asbestos and lead, it is essential to carry out DOP PAO tests on HEPA filtration equipment before work begins.

This ensures the performance of HEPA filters and guarantees the protection of users and the purity of the air released into the environment.

Which industries are concerned?

We recommend DOP tests for industries with strict regulations concerning fine and toxic dusts, such as :

- Asbestos removal companies,
- Construction companies,
- Chemical and petrochemical industries,
- Pharmaceutical industries (especially for use in cleanrooms),
- Nuclear industries,
- Food industry.
